Illustrated preview · your windows, together

Built around the window you meant.

Glimpse surfaces individual windows with titles, icons, and optional thumbnails. Search ranks app names and window titles together so a fragment like switcher can land on SwitcherView.swift instead of only the Xcode app.

  • Exact-window switching

Restore minimized windows, unhide apps, and focus the specific document or panel you selected — not merely the frontmost app.

  • Fuzzy search while the switcher is open

Ranked, case- and accent-insensitive matching across app names and window titles. Type while holding your shortcut; clear filters when nothing matches.

  • Layouts that fit the desk

Thumbnail, icon, and title layouts with adaptive panel sizing. Screen Recording is optional: without it, Glimpse still shows icons and titles.

  • Shortcut profiles and window actions

Up to nine recorded key combinations with independent scope, filters, and release behavior. Minimize, close, or toggle full screen through supported Accessibility actions.

  • Workspaces and optional browser tabs

Save an open-window layout, launch missing apps, and reposition matching windows on available displays. Opt in to Safari and Google Chrome title/URL search when you need it.

A few letters. The right window.

Try a title fragment in these example windows. Use the arrow keys to choose a result, then press Return. Your own windows stay private.

Questions before you install

Is there a trial or free tier?

No. Glimpse does not ship a trial, free feature tier, or subscription. The app stays locked until a verified lifetime license is activated.

How do activations work across Macs?

One person may register up to 5 Macs on the same lifetime key. Deactivate a Mac from the app or Polar customer portal when you retire or replace it.

What does “lifetime” cover for updates?

Updates released for this Glimpse product are included. That is not a guarantee of endless development, new major features, or compatibility with every future macOS release.

Which permissions does Glimpse need?

Accessibility is required for shortcuts, window discovery, and focusing. Screen Recording is optional for live thumbnails. Browser-tab search separately asks for Automation after you opt in. Details live on the download page.

Does the website store my license or card data?

No. Purchases are handled by Polar. License credentials live in your Mac’s Keychain after activation. This site has no customer database, login, webhook receiver, or analytics package.

Can workspaces recreate closed documents?

No. Workspace restore launches apps and arranges matching open windows on available displays. Closed documents are not recreated.
